It’s been almost a week without posting anything new here, although I’ve been doing a lot of things “backstage”. I’ve been working on some concepts for possible online workshops I want to offer online and offline, plus painting 3 different pieces, one of them being a commission painting.
I made these two paintings you see here on watercolor paper a few days ago… it is just taking me so long to post them for some reason. Hmmm.
And, of course, there is the non-ending updating/upgrading/it-could-be-better thing I do with this website! I test different templates but they all seem to have something that doesn’t work the way I want, then I go find support and when I look at the clock again it’s been 4 hours I have wasted on that. I do like the geeky part of making my own site, though… what can I say :)
I’ve also been thinking about “vlogging”, which is blogging with videos, instead of writing. A combination of both – that’s what I want to do. I already dipped my toes into video making here and here.
The problem is I get into the “I’ll do it when…” mode. Do you ever do that? I think we all do.
“I’ll buy that dress when I lose weight.”
“I’ll take that course when I save enough money” (ha!)
“I’ll travel to ________ when I can _______.”
“I’ll ________ when my hair/nail/teeth/pinky/whatever looks better.”
You get the idea.
I call that “postponing your blessings”.
The danger is not the fact that you’re not doing whatever you want to do, but that you are not doing anything to get closer to it.
That’s why I’m learning how to create classes, be creative and share that with others, which is what I want to do now. Taking action towards what you want is a way to get out of the postponing mode.
How are you postponing (or avoiding postponing) your blessings?
